WORKSHOPS
In addition to our signature offering (The 6-day Parent Leadership
Institute), The Center for Parent Leadership also contracts to
provide customized workshop development. The
following workshops are also available:
New! The
Missing Piece of the Proficiency Puzzle:
Based
on the report by the same name, this comprehensive training will
take your school or district's parent involvement plan from
assessment to action. Getting parents and community members
involved in schools can improve your school's bottom line:
attendance, discipline - and test scores.
Parent Leadership 101:
This
2-day comprehensive training for school districts helps
parents reach other parents. It also trains parents to
impact student achievement by serving on councils and committees,
facilitating the school's improvement plan, understanding school
data and effecting positive change and climate.
Parents
and teachers talking together:
Learn how to facilitate a dialogue between the two groups who
know best: parents and teachers. Together,
we will discuss what we want for students and develop an action
plan to make it happen.
A Powerful Alliance: Educators and Parents:
This hands-on workshop provides an opportunity for educators to
explore the roles parents can play at school related to improving
achievement. Based on current research about the impact of parent
involvement, information and activities will lead participants
to look a their school's parent involvement efforts and will enable
them to develop strategies to address parent involvement barriers
they identify.
Authentic Parent Engagement :
Research shows
parents will be involved when they a) know they should be b)
understand they are capable and c) feel welcome. A
training-of-trainers event for educators (district teams),
this workshop builds solid school-to-home relationships so that
educators can develop authentic relationships with parents and
improve student achievement. (Small additional fee for cost of
comprehensive participant materials.)
