The Center for Parent Leadership (CPL) is a consulting effort of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence. It is an outgrowth of the Committee's Kentucky-based Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership, which has trained over 1,500 parents since 1997 in school leadership and advocacy skills.
The Center for Parent Leadership bases its work on a set of beliefs and knowledge of current research about parent engagement. CPL knows that when parents are involved at home and at school, children do better in school, and the schools improve. We also know that in order for parents and schools to work best together, both need support. Through our parent leadership work, CPL helps parents gain the information and skills they need to help their children succeed in school in partnership with other parents and school professionals.
The CPL's primary product is capacity-building consulting leading to replication of its parent leadership institute. Also available are customized training, workshops, and seminars. Click here to learn more.
This video further explains the Center for Parent Leadership and the available training institutes. It includes testimonials from parents, educators, and adminstrators.
